New Year's Resolution

I love this time of the year. I've always enjoyed celebrating Christmas with my family and then a week later celebrating New Years Day. I do usually make some sort of resolution whether it be that I'm going to loose weight this year. Which I usually do. I just always gain it right back as soon as I'm done loosing it. Really need to fix that. Many times I make resolutions that I don't follow through with though and this year I asked myself, why bother?

I mean does it really matter whether or not you make resolutions for the New Year? As I thought about it I came to the conclusion that, YES, it is important.

Resolutions are all about us looking back over the last year, examining ourselves, and deciding what aspects of our life we should do better in the next year. The resolution process also involves a plan for managing that betterment of ourselves.

Whether it does involve financial decisions, areas in personal conduct, spiritual decisions, or even something like loosing weight, I don't believe we should take lightly the process of looking back on the mistakes of the last year and deciding what needs improving.

I guess it's kind of like the old saying, "Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail"

My personal resolution for the New Year is to do as the Bible says and "Redeem the time." I know looking back not only on this last year but previous years before that I do tend to just let alot of time pass me by. I believe this is probably my biggest failing. Who knows where I would be now, or the impact I might have had on the lives of others had I just redeemed the time.

So I guess I did make a New Years Resolution after all. Oh yeah, I'm also planning to loose weight this year.
